January 2023 Newsletter

On Sundays, we will be doing a recap for our sermon series: ReNew. Each week, we will go over points and scripture from Pastor Caleb's sermon taught the previous week.

In October 2022, we began a series called The 7 Principles. We are walking through 7 principles that every teenager should know. These 7 Principles are Authentic Faith, Spiritual Disciplines, Moral Boundaries, Meaningful Friendships, Wise Choices, Ultimate Authority, and Others First.

Each principle has a main idea, a focal scripture, and a question that students can ask themselves to see if they're on the right path to understanding the principle. So far, we have gone through Authentic Faith & Spiritual Disciplines. We would love for you to partner with us in this as we finish out the year - use this as a guide to talk with your student about what they're learning.

#1 Authentic Faith
Principle: God can be trusted; He will do all He has promised to do.
Critical Question: Are you trusting God with the critical areas of your life?
Key Passage: Proverbs 3:5-6

#2 Spiritual Disciplines
Principle: If I can see as God sees, I will do as God says.
Critical Question: Are you developing a consistent devotional and prayer life?
Key Passage: Romans 12:2

On Wednesday, January 18, we will be going into Principle #3: Moral Boundaries for a few weeks. Purity paves the way for intimacy. One of the most important things a student can do is establish boundaries. Students need to learn how to protect their bodies and emotions by honoring God's plan for sex and morality.

#3 Moral Boundaries
Principle: Purity paves the way for intimacy.
Critical Question: Are you establishing and maintaining moral boundaries?
Key Passage: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

**We will be teaching the students what it looks like to create healthy boundaries within relationships (now and in the future), what God's design for sex is and what it is not, we will discuss myths that students might hear/believe that have come from their friends or social media/television about dating, sex, and porn. We know that our students are learning these things one way or another and we are hoping to direct them to what God says about these topics. We understand that this is a sensitive topic, so you are more than welcome to join us for each of these messages (or we can send you a message manuscript for each message) if you would be more comfortable.**
